The Hindu Religious Service Centre (HRSC) Kenya volunteers organised a food distribution event for famine-truck families in Mwingi area in Kitui County Council on Sunday 9th April 2017.

Mwingi area has been severely hit by drought in Kenya which has seen a complete destruction of crops as well. A total of 3,000 food hampers were distributed on Sunday to the needy families identified earlier. Each sealed food hamper consisted of 10 kg of Maize flour and 5 kgs of Rice. The funds for this food distribution were raised from cash and in kind donations from well wishers of this noble project.

The food hampers were personally distributed by the members of the HRSC and assisting volunteers to a representative of each needy family who had gathered at Kyetani Secondary School, 199 km from Nairobi. The HRSC was assisted on the ground logistics by Bishop Dr. Mutemi and Sister Magdaline who head the Church group in Mwingi area.

The distribution of 3,000 food hampers which started mid- morning was completed by lunch time. The event was very well organized with a great sense of discipline displayed by all those gathered at the food distribution location. The event ended at 2 pm with a very hearty appreciation from all those who were benefitted.

This was the second famine food distribution event organised by the Hindu Religious Service Centre (HRSC), while planning for the third one is being finalised.
