Hyderabad police arrested two Rohingya Muslims for illegally obtaining passport, Aadhaar card

Two Rohingya refugees were arrested for illegally obtaining Indian passport and Aadhaar card. Balapur police nabbed Abdul Khair alias Shaik Yusuf, 34, from his house and recovered an expired UNHCR card and Indian passport.

Khair, illegally entered India via Bangladesh a few years ago. He got refugee status through the intervention of UNHCR, LB Nagar DCP M Venkateswara Rao said.

Khair then came to Hyderabad and worked as a labourer at Balapur.

With the help of an absconding accused, Joor Alam of Balapur, Khair made forged documents and got Indian passport on

November 14, 2017. He also got Saudi visa for Umrah pilgrimage for 30 days but stayed there for six months. He was sent to prison there and then deported to Hyderabad.

Balapur police also arrested Mohammad Ayub, 32, a Rohingya living at Bismillah Colony for illegally getting Aadhaar card.

Ayub, a labourer, also entered India illegally and got UNHCR card. Both accused were sent to judicial remand.
