Making conflict-torn Bastar proud, Bastar Superintendent of Police has won the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) 2017 International award in the “Homeland Security”. He has been awarded for his campaign “AMCHO BASTAR – AMCHO POLICE”. He is the only Indian Police Service officer to win the award twice in a row.

“AMCHO BASTAR – AMCHO POLICE” means if translated ‘Our Bastar, Our Police’. The campaign h focused on the rehabilitation of Naxals and the children affected by left-wing extremism. Afte the campaign started, 5-6 children used by Maoists as ‘child soldiers’, were rescued by police and later also got admission in school. Along with the children, the campaign also tried to give the surrendered Maoists a new life by providing them alternative earning opportunities. The campaign bridged a gap between local tribal and police.

The brave officer did not forget the contribution of others when he won the award. Hence he dedicated this award to the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives at the altar of their duty in Bastar and to the brave and innocent tribals of Bastar who have supported and collaborated with Bastar Police in the fight against Naxalism.

The International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) is a 126-year-old professional association based in Virginia for law enforcement worldwide. It recognizes law enforcement agencies across the world, that use the power of collaboration and partnerships to make local, national and global communities safer from crime and terrorism.
