Controversial, derogatory painting exhibits at Loyola College had outraged a storm among nationalists. Loyola college, in association with Alternative Media Centre had conducted a folk festival ‘Veethi Virudhu Vizha’ on January 19-20. On the sidelines of the event, this painting exhibition aimed at creating a record with Acme Book of World Records. BJP and Hindu organizations strongly condemned the vicious act hurting, which is against national integration. Hindu Munnani in a statement issued had strongly condemned and demanded legal action against the college management. Social media users took widely to condemn the selective hatred. As per some Reports, the faculty and management expressed their backing for students who displayed the art and said, “Art must be viewed as art”. On the paintings on Bharat Mata, in the context of the #MeToo Movement, a professor said, “The women who have been harassed are all children of Bharata Mata and the painting showed what they went through. There is nothing wrong in that.”

Heated outrage and protests by Hindu organizations led the management of Loyola College to tender its apology and removed the exhibits.
