United Nations, has included into it the most ancient and traditional language of India, Sanskrit into its charter. A charter binds the assembly of nations. The charter being translated into the Sanskrit language is the first of its kind attempt to make it to such an important international document.
National Mission for Manuscripts in India promoted the translation work. The pioneer of this promotion was primarily Dr.Jitendra Kumar Tripathi. The development which is of great importance for india as a whole, was appreciated by the United Nations Associates. While talking to the reporters, India’s Permanent representative to the United Nations, Syed Akbaruddin, said that he was thankful to Dr.Tripathi for undertaking the effort. “Thank you Dr.Jitendra Kumar Tripathi for this pioneering effort. Commendable and pioneering effort that needs broader recognition,” added Akbaruddin.
Also, Akbaruddin took twitter to express his gratitude and joy upon the translation of the UN charter in Sanskrit language. He announced, “The Charter of @UN is now in Sanskrit.Thank you Dr. Jitendra Kumar Tripathi for this pioneering effort.” In an another tweet, he expressed, “It is a privilege & honour to serve India @UN . Am humbled. Thank U for all the good wishes. Will strive to do my best.“
The Charter of the United Nations is a foundational agreement which was declared in the year 1945. The charter was signed at the San Fransisco War memorial and Performing Arts Center in the United States on 26th June 1945 50 members. Most countries have ratified the charter till current date although earlier only original five countries were ratified.
