The Nithyananda Bhavan English Medium School at Puthiyatheru, Kannuru, Kerala here was attacked by unidentified people and property worth several lakhs of rupees damaged on Tuesday morning (3rd January).

Interestingly, the attack on the school was carried out after it allowed the RSS to hold a weeklong training camp on its premises. It may be remembered that CPM Kannur district secretary P Jayarajan has time and again alleged that many schools were being used by the RSS for weapons training.

He had also submitted a complaint to DGP Loknath Behera in this regard. The miscreants damaged 130 window panes of the school building, water pipe connections, bathrooms and 200 chairs that were hired for the RSS programme. Meanwhile, RSS prantha karyavahak P Gopalan Kutty condemned the attack against the school and blamed the CPM for the violence.

He alleged that the attackers were instigated by P Jayarajan, who has been provoking the people against the RSS and the BJP by citing that they were carrying out weapons training in camps organised in schools. He said the CPM goons unleashed the attacks after threatening the security guard at knife point. All the window panes on the ground floor of the building were smashed and the hired plastic chairs were completely damaged with sharp weapons.
